I met Mattie at FBC Russell when she was a sixth grader and her smile immediately touched my heart. She sat with my wife and me during the morning service several times when she first began attending. I got to know her better through Sunday school and our Middle School Youth Group. We defiantly became very close when we both got pregnant senior year not even a month apart. I still can't believe this is true. Just Monday evening we were working together. Sharing our thoughts and laughs. I can still hear your voice in my head, I can replay our entire conversations perfectly in my mind. After we ran out of 15minute breaks we went to the restrooms and you scared the hell out of me when I walked in. If I would've known that was going to be the last time I heard your laugh, saw you smile, or saw the many pictures of the tattoos you wanted, I would've laughed a little harder with you, smiled longer, and paid better attention to detail of the tattoos you showed me. You said I should get the one on my leg covered up bc you didn't really like it. Your honesty was true, that's for sure. You were wearing those shoes that just barely showed your toesies and I jokingly nagged at you about them. I'm glad now that you didn't cover the rest of my shift for me. If you did I wouldn't have got to spend one last day with you. Even if it was at work. I love your soul, Mattie. So kind and so giving. You're beyond missed and Macie has a wonderful family at kohls who will be looking out for her. Rest easy, sweetness. Oh, and Mattie? ;)

U lived across the street from my mom wen u were bout 2 or 3 and wen I was there I would always go and get u and bring u over to moms... U loved ur binky 😉 and man could u talk so good.. U were so smart to b so little.. Ur mommy let me take u to my mother n laws with me and on the way I stopped at super quik and let u pick out any kind of candy u wanted and u got suckers.. U ate suckers all the way to Ashland and wen we got to my mother n laws u wanted ur binky back and then u wanted ur sucker and we forgot ur binky at her house wen we left... That binky stayed there for years as far as I can remember... U were and still r so adorable.. Gonna miss reading ur post on fb and about macie (little Mattie) breaks my heart u had to leave us so soon and for ur gramma and Macie and all ur family and friends... U had it goin on and figured out and I'm so proud of u and I always looked up to u although u were a lot younger than me... Mattie was such a wonderful young woman.. She was so beautiful inside and out and could see the good side of everyone. I didn't know her for very long but we had some classes my senior year (her junior year) and always made everyone laugh. My heart is broken and I am so sorry for the family's loss.

I have training in the medical field so when Mattie was pregnant with little macie she would call me all hours of the night every time she had a little ache or pain....but I didn't mind. She called me one night at 3am scared and worried because she was in pain and her car had a flat tire (that's a whole other story involving a curb and Mattie's driving). So I rushed over and took her to the hospital, we ended up on labor and delivery, where my mom was a nurse. With both my last name and Mattie's being Conley the nurses just assumed we were there together. My mom came into work the following morning to " your son was here last nigjt , we didn't know he was expecting " needless to say I got a phone call. I can't count the late night S.O.S. calls I got from Mattie.... Flat tires, boy problems, all kinds of things...but I never minded I knew that smile of hers would be waiting on me. I love you Mattie and miss you kiddo. -bub conley
