Marlene Carter, 85, of Russell, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at her residence. 

Mrs. Carter was born Sept. 3, 1931, to the late Charles and Edna Riffe-Bond in Ashland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Carter; brothers Charles Bond Jr. and Albert Bond. 

Marlene was of the Baptist faith. She loved to sew and spend time outside bicycling and going on hikes. 

Surviving are her daughters, Teri (Jim) Stewart and Jeri (Bob) Miller; grandchildren Billy Stewart, Joseph Stewart, Isabella Sage and Andrew Sage. 

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens with Brother Scott Hill officiating. 

Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods is in charge of arrangements.
