Virginia Ruth Nelson

Virginia Ruth Nelson, 90, formerly of Worthington, KY, passed away on Nov. 2, 2019 which was the 16th anniversary of what was declared by the city of Worthington, Virginia Ruth Nelson Day, on Nov. 2, 2003.

Mrs. Nelson was born March 24, 1929 to the late Fred Howard and Ethel Davis Howard Ward.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James H. Nelson; Brothers, Ronald Howard, Robert Howard and Jimmy Howard; sisters, Betty Moore-Hutchinson and Helen Howard.

Ruth was a long time member of the Worthington Church of The Nazarene where she was the first certified Sunday School Teacher and the Church treasure for over 40 years. She was the former owner of Nelson Flower and Gift shop and loved to use her talents to decorate Worthington Nazarene. Also, she was employed at Kress Five and Dime as a manager.

She is survived by her loving son, Donald (Dotty) Nelson; grandchildren, William Michael (Amy) Nelson, Timothy Nelson, Rachel (Thomas) Scott and Andrew (Jessica) Noe; great-grandchildren, Shauna Nelson, Jessica Nelson, Virginia Noe and Mackenzie Scott; sister Rose Ann Fryer; along with a host of many other close family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at the Worthington Church of The Nazarene at 920 Kentucky Ave. Worthington, KY 41183. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at the Church. Carman Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.
