Venita Howell

Venita Howell, 77, of Flatwoods, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018, in University of Kentucky Medical Center.

She was born July 11, 1940, in Ashland, to the late Cecil and Gertrude “Tudie” Barber.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Roy E. Howell; and one brother, Roger Barber.

Venita was a member of Advance Memorial United Methodist Church, where she actively served her Lord. She was a former employee at AK Steel for 30 years. In her free time, she loved traveling with her late husband, Roy, spending their winters in Florida. She was known for having excellent organizing skills, planning a trip down to the minute. Venita was an accomplished pianist.

Left behind to carry on her legacy is one stepson, Daniel R. and Pam Howell; three stepdaughters Kimberly and Chuck Burdette, Natalie and Tom Grizzle and Delinda Adkins; one brother, Darrell and Marianne Barber; two sisters-in-law, Freda Miller and Mildred Ewald; one brother-in-law, Dan Howell; nine grandchildren, Jason and Joshua Coburn, Justin and Gina Howell, Travis Howell, Danielle and Scotty Moore, Gabriel, Terra and Alexa Dickenson and Presley Adkins; nine great-grandchildren Alyssa, Kaileah, Noah, Waylon, Emma, Briar, Weston, Keenan, Brayden; a nephew, Steven Barber; special friends, Harry and Martha Osborne and David and Shelia Laney; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Advance Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund.
