Velma Christine Harris, 87, of Flatwoods, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at her residence. 

Mrs. Harris was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Ironton, Ohio, to the late Forest M. and Anna Louise Murphy.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Norma Lewis; and a brother, Bill Murphy. 

Velma was a member of the Shawnee Church of God and loved to spend time with her family and friends. 

Surviving is her son, Ronald (Jo Ann) Harris; nana's grandchildren, Brent Harris, Ryan (Nancy) Harris, Edmund (Stephanie) Gilroy and Alyson (P.J.) Graham; Gi Gi's great-grandchildren, Amanda, Erika, Tyler, Celina, Gunnar, Makayla, Brittne, Emily and Hunter; and a great-great-grandchild. 
Special thanks to five very special people, Bonita, Roseanne, Jim, Billy and Rob. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Russell.
