Steven Howard Poynter

Steven Howard Poynter, 79, of Flatwoods, passed away August 27, 2020 at his residence surrounded by family.

Steven was born July 9, 1941 in Foxport, KY to the late William Howard and Anna Lea Mineer Poynter.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, William Bradford Poynter and John Edwin Poynter.

Steven was a retired mechanic from Ashland Oil, INC. after 41 years of service. He enjoyed drag racing, building race engines, rebuilding carburetors, any other mechanical work and spending time with family, friends and his special cat Molly P.

Surviving is his loving wife, Lavada Bradford Poynter of 59 Years; son, Steven (Kathleen) Poynter II; grandchildren, Stephanie (Stephen) Hall, Chelsey (Clayton) Betts, Brittany (Amanda) Colegrove, Kristen Salyers, Jesse (Alexis) Salyers; great-grandchildren, Shelby Hall, Dylan Hall, Jakob Betts, Jonah Betts, Nolan Betts; one sister, Anna Carol Moore; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; and his special cat Molly P.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Carman Funeral Home with Tom Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the funeral home.
