Ruth Hamilton Tipton, 91, of Flatwoods, passed away Feb. 24, 2020, in Oakmont Manor.
Mrs. Tipton was born Oct. 16, 1928 in Flatwoods to the late Joe and Beulah Hamilton.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Tipton; five brothers and sisters, Lonnie Hamilton, Jerrell Hamilton, Robert Hamilton, Alberta Clarke and Hazel Smith.
Ruth was of the Methodist Faith. She was a member of the K-wood Homemakers Club, a former member of the Greenup County Master Gardeners, the Greenup County Fair Board, and an entrepreneur of Ruth’s Hair Bows. She helped raise money for thermal imaging cameras for the Russell and Flatwoods Fire Departments. She was an avid quilter and produced award winning honey with her husband.
She is survived by three children, Sharon Burton of Flatwoods, Marcella Crawford of The Villages, FL and Ray Tipton of Ridgley, WV; four grandsons, Rob Burton of Bellefonte, David Tipton of Mt. Savage, MD, Adam Tipton of Greensboro, NC and Matthew Crawford of Augusta, GA; great-grandchildren, Avery, Jamison, Maddie G. and Kaiden; along with one sister, Ruie Mays of Flatwoods.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
