Russell Boyd, 70, of Ashland, passed away May 4, 2023, in the Ashland Community Hospice Care Center.
Mr. Boyd was born June 12, 1952, in Ashland to the late Claude Boyd Jr. and Gloria Tufts Boyd.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Kitchen.
Russell retired after many years of service from Armco Steel as a crane operator. After retiring he went on to be a truck driver, worked in fiber optics and he also worked for Mansbach Metal. Russell was an avid sports fan, but he loved the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals along with the University of Kentucky basketball. In his younger years, he enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams and coaching and umpiring baseball. He loved to ride four-wheelers, fishing, hunting and antique cars.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Leota A. Boyd; two children, Deana (John) Collins and Jason Boyd; grandchildren, Latesha (Shaun) Stephens, Sarah Collins, Ashley Boyd, Johnathan (Hannah) Collins, Jacob Collins, Blake Boyd, Madison Adams and Brooklynn Boyd; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, John (Lenora) Boyd and two sisters; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other close family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 May 10, 2023, at Carman Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Menshouse officiating.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
