Robert “Bob” Carl Riggs, age 84 of Raceland, Kentucky, passed away on November 18, 2020 after an extended illness.

He was born August 31, 1936, the only child of the late Wilbur and Ella Riggs of Raceland, KY.

Robert was a graduate of Raceland High School. He faithfully served his country as a gunsmith in the U.S. Army 4th Armored Division from 1960-1966. Robert was a fifth-generation gunsmith. He owned Riggs Gun Shop for 66 years and was a master gunsmith, with expertise in machining and refinishing parts. Robert was a Deacon at Worthington First Baptist Church for many years and a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church. Robert had a vibrant faith and lived his life as a testimony for The Lord. He loved to study and teach the Bible and share his faith.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Connie Tomlin Riggs; son, James “Jim” (Arlene) Riggs of Raceland, KY; daughter, Nancy Riggs (John) Caroll of Lebanon, OH; three grandchildren, Aaron (Isabel) Caroll of Mason, OH, Lauren Caroll of Flowery Branch, GA, and Jesse Riggs of Raceland, KY.

A private service will be conducted Monday November 23, 2020, by Pastor Marvin Boggs. In following COVID 19 regulations, physical distancing and use of facial coverings will be required. Arrangements have been entrusted to Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY. Robert will be laid to rest at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup, KY.
