Peggy Gay Abshire Rankin

Peggy Gay Abshire Rankin, 75, of Ashland, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021 at King’s Daughters Medical Center after a brief illness.

Peggy was born August 13, 1946, in Montgomery, WV, to the late Messel Gay Spangler Abshire and Johnny Abshire, the first born of six children.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Scott Michael Rankin; one sister, Susan Abshire Click; and a brother, John Terry Abshire.

She was raised in Summit with the family and graduated from Boyd County High School. She earned her Real Estate license from Ashland Community College. She worked for Boyd County Courthouse and Greenup County Courthouse for Judges Rosen, Rise and Conley.

Left to cherish her memory is one son, Steven Christopher Rankin; one sister, Ginger (Jerry) Abshire Clark; two brothers, Christopher Edward Abshire and Mark (Donia) David Abshire; along with her grandchildren, Hillary Bowling and Michaela Rankin; along with three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 17, 2021 at Carman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
