Payton Nicole Waskey

June 9, 2000 ~ July 2, 2019 (age 19) 19 Years Old

Tribute

Payton Nicole Waskey, 19, of Ashland passed away from a pre-existing heart condition on July 2, 2019 in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

She was born June 9, 2000, in Ashland to Lisa Lewis and Jeffrey Waskey.

Preceding her in passing is her maternal grandmother, Brenda Fisher; and paternal grandparents, Thomas and Shirley Waskey.

Payton was a 2019 graduate of the Russell Independent School System. Growing up she played any sport she could be involved in but stuck with the varsity volleyball team; as an award winning artist, her dream was to sell her works on Etsy, live in a van and travel the world. Once, Payton auditioned for the dance team just to see if she could make it, always challenging herself.  She was known for her adventurous and free spirit, ready to jump in her jeep, Leroy, and drive. With the love of Leroy, she dabbled in car mechanics. Never meeting a stranger, Payton will be remembered for the love she shared with others. She was a life guard for Tranquilan Pool and a groomer for Pets Unlimited. Payton planned to attend Morehead State University in the fall to major in Business; when choosing her college, she made sure to reach out to them to gain their support in the cafeteria of her vegan lifestyle.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her parents, Lisa (Diamond) Lewis and Jeffrey (Blair Blevins) Waskey; Sister, Laekin (Noah) Wessel; brothers, William Brady Vallance and Miles Scott (Chase) Waskey; future sister, Kylee Blevins; nephew; Liam Wessel; maternal grandfather, Jack Fisher; loving boyfriend, Chance Billings; “adopted-grandfather”, Buddy Gallion; her precious fur babies, Pippie Chase and Aspen Rose; along with a host of other family, friends and volleyball family.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Russell High School. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2019 at Russell High School.
