Paul “P.R.” Maynard, 80, of Catlettsburg/Flatwoods/Raceland, passed away Apr 25th, 2023 at the Woodland Oaks Health Care Center in Ashland.

PR was born Nov 4th, 1942, in Catlettsburg, a son of the late Paul J and Marjorie Stanley Maynard.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet Houston Maynard and two grandchildren - Raechel Maynard and Eric Maddix.

P.R. retired from Armco Steel, attended church at Melrose Methodist and Flatwoods First Baptist and was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force. In his free time, he was an exceptional woodworker and enjoyed meeting up with his Catlettsburg buddies at the Depot or McDonalds or Bob Evans. In his younger years he played softball and was a competitive bowler. He loved UK Basketball, the Cincinnati Reds, the Boston Celtics and the New York Yankees. He was infatuated with his grandchildren and was his silliest with them.

Surviving are his son, Mike (Kris) Maynard; daughter, Kerry (Craig) Williams; grandchildren - Kaitlin, Emma, Travis, Brooklyn and Layla; great-grandchildren - Camden, Connor, Alexis, Layla, Remington, Ethan, Zoe, Colt, Hannah and Eris; great-great-grandchild - Royce; along with two sisters - Janet Craycraft of Cal. and Carol Ann Ross of Tenn.

The family welcomes donations in memory of P.R. to Hillcrest-Bruce Mission as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.

The funeral will be conducted at 1pm, Saturday, Apr 29th, 2023 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Pastor Jim Nichols followed by a graveside service at Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington at 3pm.

Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm, Saturday, at the funeral home.
