Mary L. Gullett

Mary L. Gullett, 94, of Flatwoods, passed away October 5, 2023, in Trinity Station Retirement Community.

Mrs. Gullet was born February 1, 1929, in Hueysville, KY, to the late James and Maudie Hale Layne.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Gullett; one son, William Gullett; along with seven siblings; Sam Layne, Jim Layne, Lee Layne, Elbert Layne, Polly Hicks, Cordilla Conley and Julie Martin.

Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church, Russell, where she was active for many years. She retired from the Fairview School Systems as a teacher and was a member of the retired teacher’s organization. She was also a member of the local Homemakers Club and in her younger years, she enjoyed working in her garden and crocheting.

She is survived by one son, Gary (Deborah) Gullett; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Gullett; grandchildren, Carrie (Sean) Wilson and Amy (Chad) Rumford; great grandchildren, Trace (Mallory) Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Ava Rumford, Kaley Wilson, Kate Rumford and Davis Rumford.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Trinity Station Retirement Community for their exceptional care given to Mary.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the First Baptist Church, Russell.

Graveside services will be at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens with brother Roger McCaleb officiating.
