Marvina Sue Gumbert

Marvina Sue Gumbert, 70, of Grayson, passed away March 30, 2022.

Ms. Gumbert was born August 31, 1951 to the late Marvin and Doris Cavin Hensley.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Gumbert; and one sister, Shirley Johnson.

Sue was a former phlebotomist, retiring from the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. She enjoyed watching a good comedian, traveling to the beach and sewing in her younger years. She was also known for baking cakes and a delicious simple side dish at family gatherings, especially her potato salad.

She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie and her husband James “Beau” Fortney Sr.; two grandchildren, Alison Fortney and James Fortney Jr.; two brothers, Jon (Vicki) Hensley and Stephen Hensley; two sisters, Elaine Coburn and Tamara Edwards; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other close family and friend.

A private burial will be in Whitt Cemetery.
