Marlana Meeks

Marlana Jo Meeks, 27, of Ashland passed away on May 3, 2021 in the University of Kentucky Hospital following a brief illness.
 

Marlana was born June 10, 1993 at King’s Daughter’s Medical Center in Ashland, KY. Her parents are Lory Conn Scarberry and William “Butch” Scarberry. She leaves behind two beautiful children, eight-year-old Hayden Grace Meeks and two-year-old Cameron Miller.

Marlana was a former Cardiothoracic Surgical Coordinator at King’s Daughter’s Medical Center. She had a gift with makeup and used it generously to help others always look their best. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved going to places that had karaoke so she could sing and dance. When she was well, Marlana had a beautiful smile and a bubbly personality that knew no stranger. She always made sure to include everyone and almost always had a child on her hip-usually one that belonged to someone else. One of her favorite things was to be in the middle of a crowd of her family and friends that loved her no matter what.

Marlana was a born and bred Ashland Tomcat. She seldom missed a Friday night football game and could often be found standing on the sidelines at any of the many Ashland sporting events cheering on her siblings, cousins, friends, and total strangers. She also never missed a wrestling match. The Ashland Matcats/wrestling were an all-time favorite.

In addition to her children and parents, Marlana is survived by her biological father, James (Cheri) Layne, brothers Jay (Kacie) Scarberry, Aaron (Amy) Scarberry, Austin Scarberry and Christian Damron; her twin sister, Samantha (Joseph) Hayslett and her younger sister, Cayce (Cory) Scarberry; Jared Meeks, father of Hayden; and special siblings, Kayla (Ricky) Ball, Mary Dennis, Steven Hayslett, Allie Slone, Peyton Phillips, and Abby (Whitney) McCormick; aunts and uncles, Lisa (Donnie) Patrick, Michael Conn, Rodney (Bobbie) Osborne, Carlotta Conn, Diana Conn, Melissa (Shawn) Spinda, and Betty Ferris; maternal grandmother Marlene Bocook; her paternal grandfather, Rick Layne; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends that all loved her.

Marlana was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Paul Conn; maternal great-grandparents, Carl “Wesley” Conn and Gaynelle Davidson Conn; paternal grandparents, Wanda Hicks and Bill Scarberry; paternal grandmother Linda Layne; and a very special baby girl, Riley.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at an outdoor location due to COVID restrictions.
