Lloyd R. Tackett, 89, passed away May 8, 2021 at The Enclave of East Louisville Senior Living facility in Louisville, KY.  Lloyd was born October 10, 1931, on a farm in Flatwoods, KY, son of the late Clayton and Nora Markin Tackett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four sisters, Alma Tackett Brown, Lucy Tackett Hart, Betty Tackett Gilbert, Jean Tackett Stublen, and his four brothers, Les Tackett, Carl Tackett, Skeeter Tackett, and Billy Wayne Tackett.  He is survived by 14 nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Russell High School in 1949.  After he graduated from high school, he served honorably in the United States Navy at the time of the Korean War.  He served aboard the Destroyer USS John Hood from May 1951 to April 1955.  He had the good fortune of circumnavigating the world after patrolling the Korean Coast for four months.

After his Naval service, he enrolled at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy.  He became the first college graduate in his family when he graduated in the 1959 class.  After working in Ashland and Flatwoods as a pharmacist, he moved to Boynton Beach, Florida and worked at Eckert Drugs.  Following his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and his hobby was counted cross-stitching for which he won several prestigious awards.

In September 2018, due to health issues, he moved to Louisville to be closer to family members. The family wishes to express special gratitude to the workers and staff at The Enclave of East Louisville and Hosparus Health for their exceptional care and services.

Prior to moving to Louisville, he was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Delray Beach, Florida.

Private Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Carman Funeral Home is in charge of Funeral Arrangements.
