Leslie B. Hayes, 74, of Russell, passed away August 19, 2020 in Hospice of Cincinnati.
Mr. Hayes was born February 28, 1946, in Flatwoods, to the late Edward and Goldie Burgess Hayes.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by five siblings, Yvonne Wade, Edward Hayes, Dorothy Kern, Robinette Boyles and Wanda Holder.
Les was an amazing husband, father and grandfather that proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, 82nd Airborne Division earning a Bronze Star and was a member of the Golden Brigade; Les also retired from Marathon Oil as an Operator. He was a cowboy at heart, the life of the party that could light up the room with his smile. Les enjoyed a competitive game of water volleyball and cards with friends, as well as watching the family of deer grow around his house. He enjoyed building tiny villages out of toothpicks. He was known for being an excellent story teller, entertaining all around him.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diane Benard Hayes; one daughter, Angie (Andy) Cann; one granddaughter and the light of his life, Audrey Cann; brothers, William (Nancy) Hayes and Paul (Carole) Barton; sisters, Barbara (David) Simpkins and Connie (Lee) Westfall; grandchildren by love, Payten Conde, Kimberly, Matthew and Michael Eastham, Joey, Stephen and Taylor Hacker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Venue at The Edge, located at 500 Diederich Blvd. Russell Kentucky, 41169
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Carman Funeral Home.
