Kenneth Donta Sr.

Kenneth Donta Sr. 93, formerly Flatwoods and Allen, KY, passed away March 30, 2022 in the Lexington VA Hospital.

Mr. Donta was born January 12, 1929 to the late William and Essie Sparks Donta.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Gilliam Donta; two sons, Kenneth “Buster” Donta Jr. and James Donta; and brothers, William Donta, Jr., Herman Donta, Arnold Donta and Delmis Donta.

Kenneth served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War; he was also a former machinist for CSX Railroad. Kenneth also held a 67 year membership in the Poage Masonic Lodge #325. Spending most of his younger years in Allen, KY with family working to become a mechanic and the handy man he was known to be.

He is survived by four grandchildren, Sarah (Sam) Razor, Will (Cara) Donta, Jamila (Chuck) Scaggs, Zach Donta and Jared (Jessica) Branham; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Hannah, Keegan, Charlie, Ben, Millie and Jameson; brothers, Jack Donta, Donald Donta, Robert Donta, Conrad Donta; sisters, Donna Donta Vanderhoof and Doris Donta Brantferger; along with four special daughters-in-law, Mattie Donta, Lee Ann Donta, Nancy Steele and Licia Lykins.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Ashland Animal Rescue Fund.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Carman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00, Saturday, at the funeral home.
