Juanita Martin

Juanita Martin, 88, of Flatwoods, passed away May 17, 2023, in the Ashland Community Hospice Care Center. 

Mrs. Martin was born December 3, 1934, in Louisa, to the late John C. and Iva J. Meade. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joe Martin; and a sister, Mary McCarty. 

Juanita was an exceptional cook and loved being outdoors. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and always put everyone before herself. In her free time, she enjoyed reading a good book, especially a mystery novel. 

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Martin and Anita Jo (Steve) Collins; two sons, Joe (Denise) Martin, Jr. and John (Reba) Martin; one sister, Doris Wilson; eight grandchildren, Joshua Sargent, Benjamin Riffe, Stephanie Gravatte, Andrew Collins, Chase Martin, Luke Martin, Catherine Martin and Lorin Suttles; nine great-grandchildren, Stephen, Sophia, Sarah, Stella, Savanna, Erin, Leo, Noah and Silas; along with one great-great-grandchild, Lincoln. 

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Ashland Community Hospice Care Center. 

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Carman Funeral Home with Tom Stephens officiating. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Saturday, at the funeral home.
