John Poe, 78, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, in Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice.
Mr. Poe was born March 25, 1940, in Russell, to the late Charles and Elizabeth Poe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Poe; his father and mother-In-Law, Crash and Jeri Carver; and two great-nephews, Jason Poe and Joseph Rutkowski.
John was of the Methodist Faith. He was a proud U.S. Army and Air Force Veteran. He traveled throughout Europe with the Army playing baseball and was a member of Southern Ohio Softball Hall of Fame. He was a sports enthusiast, enjoying anything that kept a score. John was a member of the American Legion and a retired employee of AK Steel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sandi Poe; three sons, Zach (Rosanne) Poe, Alex (Kelly) Poe and Zane Poe; four grandchildren, Jaxson, Lethan, Mason and Miles Poe; one brother, James (Bobbe) Poe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tues., Nov. 27, 2018, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwood. Burial will be in Haverhill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
