Joe Everett Martin Sr.

Joe Everett Martin, 88, of Flatwoods passed away October 17, 2021 surrounded by his family at home.

Mr. Martin was born March 27, 1933, in Blaine to the late Davis and Dora Blackburn Martin.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, John Harlan, William “Tom”, Dorothy, Aldean, Margaret, Homer and Davis Jr.

Joe retired after many years of service from Armco and was a former City Councilman for Flatwoods. He lived life to the fullest and loved staying busy. Over the years he had built many homes, owned several rental properties and was an exceptional handyman. He was a country man and loved working on his farm and the old family home place in Blaine.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Juanita Meade Martin; two sons, Joe (Denise) Martin Jr. and John (Reba) Martin; two daughters, Deborah Martin and Anita (Steve) Collins; grandchildren, Joshua Sargent, Benjamin Riffe, Stephanie Gravatte, Andrew Collins, Chase Martin, Luke Martin, Catherine Martin and Lorin Suttles; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Sophia, Sarah, Stella, Savanna, Erin, Leo and Silas; along with a host of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Ashland Community Hospice Care.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Carman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Louisa.

Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
