Joan Lucas

Joan Lucas, 62, of Flatwoods, passed away Oct. 4, 2018, in Ashland Community Hospice Care Center.

Mrs. Lucas was born Jan. 6, 1956, in Lexington, to the late Richard Hicks and Mary Ann Yates.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Harold Yates; and two brothers, William and Richard Hicks Jr.

Joan was a member of West Ironton Church of The Nazarene. She was a former choir director in the church. Joan enjoyed watching American Pickers and Food Network channel. She loved to work with children, which inspired her to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education; most of all she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Dale Lucas; one daughter, Bethany Lucas; two sisters, Delisa Boone and Debra Fuson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2018, at the funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Salvation Army.
