Tribute

Jerry D. Horn, 77, of Flatwoods, went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at home.

Jerry was born July 1, 1943 in Ashland, Ky; a son to the late Ethelbert and Dolly Horn.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin brother, Terry Horn, along with two other brothers, Larry and EB Horn: and one sister, Cindy Rucker.

Jerry was the life of the party and always worked to make others smile and laugh. He loved dressing up as a clown for parades and church functions trying to bring as much joy as possible to those around him. Jerry’s life revolved around his family. He loved spending time with them fishing, camping, and sitting on his swing. He was never ordinary but extraordinary with the love he radiated.

A graduate of Paul Blazer High School and a former police officer of Flatwoods and Raceland. Jerry retired chief of security of Armco and supervisor of Carter County EMS. He spent many years being the Sunday school superintendent and deacon at Raceland Church of God of Prophecy. Jerry was also a member of the Smith Masonic Lodge #775 and was given the honorable title of Kentucky Colonel.  

Mr. Horn is survived by his adoring wife of 57 years, Carolyn Sue Dillow Horn; two daughters, Deanna (Mark) Blackburn and Denise (Jon) Beegan; grandchildren, Joshua (Katie) Sammons, Jeri Sue (Eric) Spainhower, Trey (Katie) Adams, Caleb (Sasha) Sammons, Chelsea (Connor) Scott, Madison Blackburn, Mark Blackburn and Garret Beegan; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Kayden, Kylee, Ryder, Waylon, Maya, Maisley, Paxton, Whitley, Kara Lynn, and one on the way in August; sisters, Pat Muncy, Pam Simpson, Penny Blevins, Charlene Campbell, Sandy Scruggs and Paula Leake.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m., Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2021 at Carman Funeral Home.
