James E. Dotson, 79, of Ashland passed away December 15, 2020 in Kings Daughters Medical Center.
Mr. Dotson was born September 5, 1941, in Jenkins, KY, to the late Kedric and Hazel Clark Dotson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Cheryl Dotson; one daughter, Jennifer Dotson; and one brother Kedric Dotson Jr.
James was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and retired as Military Police, after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Ashland Second Baptist Church; he loved to read, fish and bowled with the Ashland Oil Bowling Team while he worked there before retiring as a civilian. In his free time he enjoyed going to the Ashland Senior Center, where he met his wife Sylvia during a Christmas gathering.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Marcum Dotson; one son, Jeffrey Dotson; two daughters, Jessica (Andy) McKinney and Juliana Dotson; four grandchildren, Dillon, Timothy and Joshua McKinney and Cheryl Dotson; one sister, Rose (Harry) Smith Thacker; and two brothers-in-law, Charles Bath and Joseph Gibson.
In lieu of flowers donations are requested to Carman Funeral Home to assist with final arrangements.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2020 at Carman Funeral Home.
Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
