Jack Riggs

Jack Riggs, 91, of Russell, passed away March 16, 2021 in Oakmont Manor.

Mr. Riggs was born May 14, 1929 in Russell to the late James and Stella Patterson Riggs.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce Carman Riggs; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Biederman; and two sisters, Ann Webb and Norma Mourer.

Jack was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the Raceland Christian Church and was a former Elder of the Russell Christian Church, now known as Bridges Christian Church. Mr. Riggs retired as a Real-estate Appraiser. In his younger years he was an outstanding athlete. He enjoyed a round of golf from time to time with his son or friends. He was a civic minded man and tried to give back to his community thru the Rotary Club, Russell’s volunteer Fire Department; he was also a former Chairman of the Russell Centennial. Aside for his true love of family his second love would be his chocolate stash.

He is survived by one son, James (Holly) Riggs; one daughter, Janie (C.D.) Stiltner; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with one on the way; along with a host of other family and friends that will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to Community Hospice.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 19, 2021 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
