Tribute

Irma Jean “Al” Simpson of Russell passed away at her home on April 3rd 2018.

She was born March 21, 1929 in Raceland, the daughter of the late Charles and Pauline Sims Fannin.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Frank Gates Simpson, Jr., in 1997, and two brothers, David and Charles Fannin.

Within the family, she was the caregiver, the matriarch, and the glue that bound us together. She was a lifelong, faithful Methodist and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

“Al” is survived by two daughters—Missi Baker (Garry) of Ashland, and Susan Daniels (Dennis) of Flatwoods, and a son, Frank Gates Simpson, III, (Ellen) of Nashville. She also has two grandchildren, Alisa Baker of Houston and Matthew Baker of Las Vegas, and two great-grandchildren, Rylan Baker Black and Grayden Baker. Also surviving are two sisters, Marlene Fannin of Raceland, Clara Lou Booth of Florida, and two brothers, Jerry Fannin of Raceland and Bill Fannin of Worthington.

A family graveside service will be at 1p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens with Reverend Don Young presiding.

The family is most grateful to two very special caregivers and the wonderful team at Community Hospice and wish that in lieu of flowers that donations be given there in her memory.
