Hattie Jane Menshouse McConnell

Hattie Jane McConnell, 77, of Wurtland, KY passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 peacefully with her family by her side. She was born on April 14, 1946 to the late Louis and Hattie Williams Menshouse.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 20 plus years Raymond McConnell, one son, Robert Eric “Robo” Sammons, and six brothers and three sisters.

After many years of retail Hattie retired as manager from Hills Department Store. She was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed, UK Basketball, Cleveland Browns, and watching baseball, not only did she enjoy watching sport  she also coached the Russell Flatwoods Little League Girls Softball, and won the state tournament in 1977. Perhaps her greatest role in her life was the loving and caring mother she was to her children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Matt and his wife Shawna Sammons, of Lexington, KY two grandchildren; Joshua Sammons of Ashland, KY, Kaya Sammons of Lexington, KY, three surviving sisters; Jeanie Eldridge, Belle Ferguson, Irene Spradlin, one great-grandchild, that was the light of her life Harry Donovan III, a special friend, Dottie Webb, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss her dearly.
