Harmon Darrel “Sonny” Hewlett, 76, of Flatwoods, passed away August 11, 2021 in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
Mr. Hewlett was born March 29, 1945 in Worthington, to the late Delmar and Wilma Heaberlin Hewlett.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Baunita Rice; and brother, Michael Hewlett.
Sonny served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and retired as a scheduling clerk in the shipping department at Armco-AK Steel. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He loved playing practical jokes on others and loved spending his time with family. Sonny also served as a Flatwoods City Councilman for 14 years and was a former member of the Smith Masonic Lodge 775.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Sandy Edmond Hewlett; two brothers, Jarold (Martha) Hewlett and Delmar R. (Jeanne) Hewlett; Marlena (Ralph Matheny) Ross; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Donna Hewlett, Connie Edmond, Christina (Mark) Kirk and Michael (Donna) Edmond; special aunt, Barbara Epperson; along with a host of other family and friends to carry on his legacy.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Carman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park with Military Honors provided by POST 93.
Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
