Georgeanne L. Ward, 95, of Russell, died June 8, 2019.
Mrs. Ward was born July 28, 1923, to the late George and Alice LaMaster.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur H. Ward; one son, A. Hyatt Ward; three sisters, Adelaide Bennett, Kathleen Flemming and Martha Herrick.
Georgeanne was a lifelong resident of Russell and a member of Mead Memorial United Methodist Church. She served on Russell’s first beautification committee and spent years planting city trees. She was a charter member of the Russell Civic League, owner of Alley Gallery Gifts, served on the Greenup County Tourism Board and was the President of Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Georgeanne was an avid gardener and had received her Green Thumb Master Gardener certificate. She and her friend Minnie Mae Hoflich were advocates for the preservation of Downtown Russell and the Ironton Russell Bridge location.
She paid particular attention to table settings with her tea parties. In recent years, her favorite outing has been to the Pour House Coffee Shop where she is one of the Chai Tea Ladies.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Pamela (Pete) Glazier, Penny (Steve) Preston and Melissa (Jim) Epling; four grandsons, Christopher (Ellen) Glazier, Matthew (Stacey) Glazier, Joshua (Kate) Epling and Stephen (Jenny) Preston; along with 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to be made in her memory to Mead Memorial United Methodist Church or Community Hospice.
