Ellen "Ms. Ellie" Rice

Ellen "Ms. Ellie" Rice, 94, of Westwood, passed away October 29, 2023, in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center.

Mrs. Rice was born September 1, 1929, in Greenup, to the late Emory and Sarah Patton.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Rice; two brothers, Evert Patton and Edgar “Buck” Patton; three sisters, Edna Childers, Eva Salyers and Edith Harris.

Ellen was a devout Christian woman and a member of the Ironville Enterprise Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was known for her greeting and farewells to those around her as “God bless you” and strived to be a servant to her Lord and to all that knew her. She was a former housekeeper for King’s Daughters Medical Center and loved to cook delicious meals for her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Connie (Mike) Garvin; special niece and nephew, Greta Conley and Danny (Debbie) Patton; two lifelong friends, Helen Kirk and Maxine Blair; along with a host of other close family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to The Gideons.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Carman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.
