Elias Thomas Johnson

Elias Thomas Johnson, 71, of Ashland passed away January 25, 2021 in Kings Daughters Medical Center.

Mr. Johnson was born December 10, 1949 to the late Perry and Chloe Wilburn Johnson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Johnson; and one grandson, Cash Blanton.

Elias served his country proudly in the United States National Guard. He was an Educator for several years after graduating from Morehead State University while on a swimming scholarship. He also retired from AK Steel after 38 years of employment. He loved being outdoors, hiking the Appalachian Trail and kayaking down the Andes Mountains. His greatest passion in life was music, singing and songwriting and playing the drums and guitar.

His is survived by his loving wife, Kim Johnson; two sons, Nathan (Heather) Johnson and Chris (Kayla) Blanton; three grandsons, Oliver Johnson, Cannon Blanton and William Wicks; one brother, James (Kim) Johnson; and one sister, Ethel (Charlie) Bartle.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Carman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
