Dr. George E. Lovelace, 69, of Flatwoods, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, after a long battle with cancer.
George was born Dec. 4, 1948, in Falmouth, to the late Mildred L. and George D. Lovelace.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a younger sister, Joanna.
George was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and graduated from University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. He practiced dentistry in the Ashland area for almost 30 years.
He was a strong friend to many in the community, who will remember his individual sense of humor and commitment to his work. He was a longstanding member of Raceland First Baptist Church and had a love of gardening, woodworking and classical music.
He leaves behind one son, James Dustin (Kacy) Lovelace; one daughter, Mary Ashleigh Lovelace (James Amenta); two brothers, David and Neil Lovelace; one sister, Susan Lovelace Miranda; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth, with visitation beginning at noon. Final resting place will be in Turner Ridge Cemetery in Falmouth.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Remote Area Medical (RAM), an all-volunteer organization that provides free dental and medical care in the U.S. and other countries.
