Dave Matthews

Dave Matthews, 65, of Flatwoods, passed away February 1, 2021 at his residence. 

Mr. Matthews was born January 26, 1956 to the late Carl and Hazel Johnson Matthews.  

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 10 sisters, Jean, Shirley, Lois, Linda, Cathy, Billy Jo, Alene, Charlene, Opal and Susie. 

Dave was a Veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Matthews was a former truck driver for Manfredi and a past officer for the Raceland Police Department. He loved dirt track racing, NASCAR, and playing games on his computer. In the warm months you would find him out in the yard cutting grass at least five times a week. Around family and friends, Dave was the life of the party, never knowing what he was going to do or say. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Donna Moore Matthews of Flatwoods, KY; two sons, Damon (Albrey) Matthews of Old Town, KY and Jay Matthews of Flatwoods, KY; grandchildren, Ethan (Rachel) Matthews of Huntington, WV., Zach Collins of Old Town, KY, Kelsey Matthews of Flatwoods, KY, Lexie Collins of Old Town, KY and Laela Matthews, of Greenup, KY; great-grandchild, Eliza Matthews; two brothers, Carl Matthews of Grayson, KY and Michael Matthews of Richmond, KY; and a special family friend, Elizabeth (Dusty) Clark of Flatwoods, KY.  

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 at Carman Funeral Home.  

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the funeral home.
