Tribute

Curtis “Curt” Winston Scott passed away Aug. 15, 2019 with his wife and daughter at his side at Kings Daughters Medical Center.

Curt was the son of the late Charles and Mayme Scott.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Bradley and Betty Sellers.

Following the death of his parents, Curt and his four siblings, Thelma Bradley, Betty Sellers, Ruth Capterton and George Dewey Scott continued and grew the family owned business, Scott’s Furniture in Flatwoods, KY.

Curt worked at AK Steel for 36 years; following his retirement in 1996, he worked six days a week at Scott’s Furniture until the end of 2017.

His best decision was marrying his high school sweetheart, Margie Smith Scott on Aug. 29, 1959. Nine years later they celebrated the birth of their only child, April Scott. In 2001 their only grandchild, Scott was born, named to honor the Scott family.

Friends and Family remember Curt for his generous heart, witty humor, wise sayings, strong work ethic and his ability to demonstrate love and stay true to himself.

Curt and Margie narrowly missed celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Margie lovingly cared for Curt over his two year battle with esophageal cancer.

Surviving is his adoring wife, Margie Scott; daughter, April Scott Snedegar; grandson, Scott Snedegar; one sister, Ruth Caperton; and his twin brother, George Dewey Scott.

Entombment Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens with Jack Edwards and Randy Caperton officiating.
