Carson Gillum, 88, of Flatwoods, passed away October 28, 2022 with his family by his side in the South Shore Nursing and Rehab Facility.
Mr. Gillum was born December 1, 1933 in Ashland to the late Therman and Alma Stapleton Gillum.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Janet Gillum; a great-grandson, Adam Keith Gumbert; and six brothers, Dewy, Elwood, Leonard, Charles, Leroy and Newton Gillum.
Carson was a former employee of the Ashland Libraries. He enjoyed going to theme parks with his family and riding roller coasters, watching TV, especially the Price Is Right, working seek and find puzzles and had a passion for cars. He was also an avid UK Basketball fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Elaine (Paul Martin) Gillum; son, Johnathan (Holly Coffee) Gillum; four grandchildren, Marva Maynard, Adam Gumbert, Johnathan Gillum Jr. and Michael Gillum, along with five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Charlotte Leadingham.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Carman Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
