Carolyn Warnock

April 30, 1947 ~ March 10, 2021 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Tribute

Carolyn Pillans Warnock, 73, of Russell, KY, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Owen and Doris Pillans; and her sister Susan Pillans.

Carolyn was born on April 30, 1947 in Louisville, KY. Growing up she lived in both Louisville and Venice, FL, while her father was an instructor at the Kentucky Military Institute. After graduating from Waggener High School, she attended the University of Kentucky where she was a proud sister of the Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Science and later got her Master’s Degree in Guidance Counseling from Morehead State. While in college, she spent the summers working as a self-proclaimed mediocre waitress at the Yellow Door in Martha’s Vineyard and traveled Europe with her good friend, Betsy. While at the University of Kentucky, she met her future husband, Frank Warnock. They were married in September of 1971.

With Carolyn’s gigantic heart and strong dedication to civic duty, she became involved in many groups in the community. She was active in the Russell School System as a substitute teacher. Also, she was a member of the Greenup County Master Gardeners, founder of the Greenup County Green Foundation and a vintage clothing curator at the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center.

During her life, she traveled the world from Paris to Rome to London. She taught those around her to see the world and enjoy what each day has to offer. She lived each day to the fullest while always stopping to smell the roses.

Carolyn enjoyed gardening, early morning walks with her friend Juanita, raising Monarch butterflies, and researching genealogy. She was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution and the Highland Museum Board of Directors.  Most of all she LOVED spending her time with her family and being Mimi for her grandchildren.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 49 years Frank Warnock; son, Matthew (Stacy) Warnock; daughter, Annie (Brian) Neal. She was also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Owen Neal, Scarlett Neal, Chloe Warnock, Scout Neal and Abigail Neal.

In lieu of flowers please send a generous donation in the name of Carolyn to the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center at 1620 Winchester Ave. Ashland, KY, 41101

A celebration of life will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY.
