Carl J Salyers

Carl Junior ‘J’ Salyers, 82, of Flatwoods, KY passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Salyers was born in Elliot County on November 3, 1940 to the late Jason and Ester Johnson Salyers.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Jonathan Salyers.

Carl retired as a Fish & Wildlife Conservation Office after 30 plus years. Some of his accomplishments include him being a Kentucky Colonial, and a Kentucky Admiral, as well as being the Fish and Wildlife Officer of the year. He was a long time member of Flatwoods Freewill Baptist Church, and enjoyed hobbies such as his garden of flowers, Dolly Parton tomatoes, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Karen Parker Salyers of 60 years, one son, Brian (Janet) Salyers of Ashland, KY, one daughter, Gayla (Anthony) Smith of Lexington, KY, three grandchildren; David Salyers, Carlee Smith, and Christopher Shobe as well as a host of loving family and friends that will miss him dearly.

A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens with Pastor Danny Brown. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, March 2nd at Carman Funeral Home, Flatwoods, KY from 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.
