Tribute

Bobby Ray Arthur, 85, of Wurtland, KY passed away peacefully into the arms of his merciful Savior on Friday, May 21, 2021.

Bobby was born February 2, 1936 to the late Andrew E. and Della Johnson Arthur.

Bobby was a 1954 graduate of Russell High School, a United States Air Force Veteran and retired after 40 years from Armco/AK Steel.

Prior to attending the United Baptist Church, Bob was a member of First Baptist Church of Flatwoods. He was baptized in 1954 by Bro. Earl Neal.

Bob was a quiet, modest man. He enjoyed working in his garage, tending the garden, mowing the lawn and flying. He had his pilot’s license before he had his driver’s license and actively flew for over 50 years. He was a devoted son who gave up his evenings, weekends and vacation times to care for his parents. He never complained about his role as primary caregiver. Instead he accepted the assignment with grace and honored his parents with his devotion, love and compassion. He was equally a devoted husband and father whose passing has left a void beyond the scope of words.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Judy Dickison Arthur and son, James Milton Arthur of Flatwoods. Also surviving, a brother, Bill Arthur of Lexington, KY and a sister, Kathy Arthur Ball of Pinson, AL.

Special thanks to Sheila Lenarz and A.J. Williamson for their unwavering care and compassion. The family would like to also thank OLBH/KDMC Home Health nurse Sherry Barker who visited Bob for the past seven years and Community Hospice/Palliative Care nurse Amanda Rowsey who provided both comfort and encouragement during Bob’s last month.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carman Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service time.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 28, 2021 at Westwood United Baptist Church by Elder A.J. Williamson. Burial will be in the Counts Cemetery, Wurtland. All current Covid-19 protocols pertaining to masks and social distancing will be followed.
