Betty Yates

Betty Yates, 80, of Muncie Indiana, passed away peacefully, October 17, 2021 in the Bethel Point Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Yates was born December 28, 1940 in Byrdstown, TN, to the late Estill and Della Clark.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Leonard Yates.

Betty was a former employee of Anchor Hocking. She was a member of the Freedom Worship Church of God for 25 years. She loved working in her flower bed for hours on end. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren. Betty was known for watching Reba and falling asleep during her favorite Hallmark movies.

As an adult she moved to Munice where she met the love of her life, Leonard, from there they moved to Selma then to Flatwoods where he was from. After his passing she moved to Muncie to be close to family.

She is survived by one daughter, Penny (Rick) Hiatt; one son, Rick Yates; five grandchildren, Heather (Otha) Wallace, Jamie (Steve) Talbot, Christie (Ryne) Middleton, Kassidy Hiatt and Kyler Hiatt; nine great-grandchildren, Savana, Shantyle, Isaiah, Jackson, Tyson, Gavin, Bella, Bentley, Reagan; great-great-grandchildren, Sofia and Savi; two brothers, Bobby Craig and Joe Clark; and four sisters, Ruby Cordle, Judy Poore, Janelle Cremeans and Janice (Bill) Cremeans.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2021 at Carman Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Whitt officiating.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
