Baunita J. Hewlett Rice, 76, of Worthington passed away March 6, 2018 at her residence.

Mrs. Rice was born Sept. 5, 1941 in Worthington to the late Delmar and Wilma Heaberlin Hewlett.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Rice; one brother, Michael Hewlett.

Baunita was a member of the Worthington Church of The Nazarene. When her children were in school she was an active member of the local and state PTA and was a member of the Raceland-Worthington School Board. She worked in accounting at the Russell YMCA, at Steckler’s Department Store and retired from her position as Greenup County Treasurer. When she wasn’t spending time with her family or working she was active in the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by two daughters, Renee ( Scott) Truesdell and Karen Rice; one son, Michael Rice; two grandchildren, Heather Truesdell and Zach Truesdell; three great-grandchildren, Delaney (her “Sunshine”) Prim, Liam Prim and Hendrix Imberi; four siblings, Jarold (Martha) Hewlett, Marlena (Ralph) Matheny, H. D. Sonny (Sandy) Hewlett and Delmar Ray (Jeanne) Hewlett; sister-in-law, Donna Hewlett.

Funeral services will be at 10 am, Monday, March 12, 2018 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with Rev. Paul Neal and Delmar Ray Hewlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to be made in Baunita’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
