Anne Connell Wallace

Anne Connell Wallace, 79, of Russell passed away December 13, 2020 in the Community Hospice Care Center.

Ms. Wallace (Connell) was born September 19, 1941 to the late Joseph Connell and Elizabeth Robinson Robb in Lexington.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Bette Jo (Charles) Glass.

She married the love of her life, Ron, in 1962, supporting him as devoted partner as the family moved about the Country for almost twenty years as he served in the military and in various corporate jobs. She and Ron raised two wonderful boys who grew into fine men. At each stop Connell was a faithful witness for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While raising her family in the church, she practiced her teaching profession at every opportunity. In one case this involved co-founding a Christian pre-school for three and four year olds that eventually reached and enrollment of over 100 kids. Connell finished her teaching career teaching K-3 in the Russell District for fourteen years.

While in New Jersey, Connell was a member of Stelton Baptist Church, South Plainfield. Over eight years, she became a member of the governing body of that Church. Since 1982, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Russell, where she was active for many years in various ministries. Her favorite was managing the annual Christmas “Giving Tree” program. Her favorite community project was working for “Partners in Pride”, providing clothing to needy school children.

After Connell retired from the Russell Independent School System, she and Ron enjoyed traveling and working together on various projects. In addition to Ron, she is survived by her two sons, David (Jessica) Wallace and Joseph Wallace; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other close family and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Two Hearts Pregnancy Center or the Ashland Community Kitchen.

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Russell with Pastor Ken Gowin Officiating. Burial will be in East Carter Memory Gardens.

A visitation by vehicle will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Russell, as well as an indoor visitation an hour before service time on Wednesday at the Church.
