Alma Vance

April 22, 1943 ~ December 6, 2019 (age 76)


Alma Diane Vance, 76, of Flatwoods, KY answered her savior’s call Friday, Dec. 6, 2019 at Oakmont Manor.

She was the daughter of Lauretta Barnhart Trimble and Etra Ivel Trimble. She was a life-long member of the First Christian Church, now Bridges Christian Church, in Russell, KY and a volunteer at Bon Secours Hospital. Mrs. Vance also enjoyed playing cards at the Russell Senior Center and in several card clubs with many friends. She was also a proud supporter of Compassion International, Disabled Veterans and several other charitable organizations.

Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ret. Sargent Major Lester Allen Vance; mother Lauretta Trimble; father Ivel Trimble; and step mother, Dorothy Trimble.

Surviving relatives include her sons, Danny Joe (Michelle) Tackett of Russell, KY, David Vance of San Francisco, CA, Harold (Jeanette) Vance of Sheffield, United Kingdom; daughter Lesley Danay Blair of Treasure Island, FL; sister, Patricia Fraley of Columbus, OH and Larry Joe Tackett, a very special person in her life. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Brittany (Josh) Haehlen of Lexington, KY, Anna Tackett of Greenup, KY, Kelly Workman of Dallas, TX, Claudia Cofield and Alexander Cofield of Sheffield, United Kingdom; three great-grandchildren, Evelyn Haehlen, Violet Haehlen, both of Lexington, KY, and Caleb Passmore of Sheffield, United Kingdom and a long list of other family and friends that were near and dear to her heart.

Flowers are welcomed; donations are also suggested to the Community Hospice, Friends of Hospice Foundations.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
