A.G. Pettrey, 91, of Russell passed away Sept. 6, 2019.
Mr. Pettrey was born Oct. 6, 1927 in Princeton, WV, to the late Aaron and Estaline Basham Pettrey.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one brother, Muriel Pettrey; five sisters, Hazel Parcell, Odessa Shepard, Eva Powell, Helen Pettrey and Ruby Perdue.
A.G. was a member of the Advance Memorial United Methodist Church. He served his country proudly in the Air Force and retired as a carman from C&O Railroad. He loved to go to yard sales, set up at the flea market and find a good bargain. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 71 years, Margaret Pettrey; five sons, Ronald Pettrey, Steven (Lillian) Pettrey, John (Shelly) Pettrey, Thomas (Lisa) Pettrey and Rick (Lisa) Pettrey; two daughters, Mary Margaret (David) Carman and Rebecca (Earl) Boyles; and 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Advance Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, at the Advance Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Sean Schroll and Don Young officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at Carman Funeral Home.
