Ruth Clarke,82, of Flatwoods, KY., passed away Thursday August 3, 2017 at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, KY. She was born August 4, 1934 in Ashland, KY., a daughter of the late John and Hazel Meek Gehringer.

She was a member of Advance Memorial United Methodist Church in Flatwoods, KY. Ruth enjoyed Quilting, restoring antique furniture, taking care of her flower garden, and spending time with family and friends.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Charles Wesley Clarke, one son Charles “Chip” Clarke JR and four brothers John Gehringer, William “Bill” Gehringer, Burnice “Burnie” Gehringer and Frank Gehringer.

Surviving are one son Terry Lee (Christi) Clarke of Ashland, KY., five grandchildren Allison Clarke, Kiefer Clarke, Caitlin (James) Cox, Milena Clarke and Jason Benton, five sisters Hazel Workman, Clarissa “Doo Doo” Roark, Pearl Parker, Louise “Wezzie” Helms, Mabel Jones and one brother Louie (Rosemary) Gehringer. She will also be sadly missed by many other friends and family members.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Sunday August 6, 2017 at the Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY., with Pastor Sean Shroll officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, KY. Friends may call at the Carman Funeral Home on Sunday from 12 P.M. until the funeral hour at 2 P.M.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Advance Memorial United Methodist Church Building fund. 1007 Bellefonte Rd. Flatwoods, KY 41139.
