Michael Edmond Horton, Jr.

August 11, 1956 ~ April 5, 2024 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Tribute

Michael Edmond Horton, Jr., 67, of Flatwoods, passed away April 5, 2024, in the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Mr. Horton was born August 11, 1956, in Ashland, to the late Michael Horton Sr. and Doris Mae Horton.

For several years, Michael worked with the Ashland Group Home where he cherished many fond memories. He loved soaking in and learning everything he could about the life of Abraham Lincoln; and looked forward to when a new book was published. Michael enjoyed watching shows about travel, reflecting over his time living in Washington DC when he was in the United States Air Force, shooting at the gun range, sharing a good meal with family, and having conversations at all hours of the night. Michael had a love for classic cars, especially his Mustang, motorcycles and rock and roll music. He was there for anyone and never forgot a birthday, trying to make everyone feel special on their special day. His sense of humor was both unique and appreciated by many. He loved his last 16 years spent with his partner, Marsha Hartman. They would enjoy walks at the mall every day together and were always there for one another.

Michael also enjoyed going to Greenbo Lake State resort park, where he was a Park Ranger at one time, where feeding the deer and having a nice picnic was a love he shared with his children and family. He would do anything to make anyone else happy or smile.  He will be remembered for his kind and loving heart.

He is survived by two daughter, Katie Horton, and Michelle “Shelly” Horton; two sisters, Nancy Fannin and Patty Osborne; his partner, Marsha Hartman; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other close family and friends.
