February 16, 1935 ~ February 10, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years OldMcCletta Avalee Bishop Rice, 82, of Flatwoods, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
McCletta was born Feb. 16, 1935, in Pikeville, the daughter of the late Russell and Winnie Fields Bishop.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Rice; and a grandson, Ryan Spradling.
She was a member of Ashland 7th Day Adventist Church and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Worthington, where she was GA leader for many years. McCletta was member of the Red Hat Society and Beta Sigma Phi. She retired from King’s Daughters Medical Center after 33 years of service.
McCletta is survived by her daughter Cheryl Ryan of Flatwoods; two sons, Kirby (Lesa) Thacker of Buchannan and Eric (B.J.) Rice of Alpharetta, Ga.; a sister, Clotine Newsome of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Ron (Sadie) Bishop of Ashland; four grandchildren, KW (Jessica), Chris (Rachel), Rob and Stephen Ryan; four great-grandchildren, Harley, Jordan, Penelope and Kolton; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at the funeral home.
