Charles E. Sammons 81, of Ashland passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 in Ashland, KY.

Mr. Sammons was born December 4, 1935 to the late William and Beadie Walker-Sammons in Access, Kentucky.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Tom Sammons and sister Faye Sammons.

Charles retired in 1994 as Superintendent for the Raceland-Worthington Schools, former Principal of the Russell Vocational School, and Russell High School Football Coach. He was a member of Bridges Christian Church and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife Donna Jean Sammons; daughters, Sherri (Ed) Crouse, and Tracey Sammons; son, Charlie Joe (Karen) Sammons; grandchildren, Rory Charles Chapman, Jeffery Crouse, Brianna Crouse, Charlie Joe Sammons Jr., Jason Sammons, TyLea Hopper, and Shelby Sammons; great-grandchildren, Juliet Chapman, Jason Sammons, and Elizabeth Sammons; brother, Claude Sammons, along with a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 12 pm Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Pastor Mark McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be two hours prior to service time at the funeral home.
