Tribute

Benjamin Franklin Carter, 92, of Flatwoods, passed away March 17, 2024, in the Ashland Community Hospice Care Center.

Mr. Carter was born August 24, 1931, in Potters, KY, to the late Jesse and Nora Skaggs Carter.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Delong Carter; great-grandchildren, Joey Cantrell, and Autumn Hayes; brothers, Len, Jesse, Donald, George, and Billy Carter; and one son-in-law, Phillip Bowling.

Benjamin served his country in the United States Army, afterwards retiring from GTE as a maintenance technician. He was a Deacon at Bridges Christian Church. He loved to collect clocks and ceramics, go fishing in his younger years and in his free time he enjoyed watching westerns on TV, especially those with John Wayne. His greatest joy in life came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by four daughters, Brenda (Gary) Frasher, Bennie Jean Bowling, Sherri (Terry) Short, and Rita (Mike) Moore; grandchildren, Angela Adkins, Benjamin Stafford, Bryan (Misty) Adkins, Krista Hayes, Alia (Nathan) Roark, Holli Ross, Jonathan (Alex Blake) Short, Melanie Church, and Stephanie (Eli) Rodman; great-grandchildren; Devin, Gabby, Wyatt, Chase, Tallon, Elizabeth, Jamison, Samarae, Tristan, Marcel, Bobby, Connor, Rhinnon, Nora, Jordan, Carter; along with a host of other close family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 22, 2024, at Carman Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Fraley officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the funeral home.
